Career Highlights
Highlights
Managed one of the largest loyalty and subscription programs in the world at Uber, doubling its size to over 50M members during the pandemic
Worked at 3 unicorns helping founders directly with various strategic and product initiatives
Was COO for a 100-year-old iconic transportation company (Piaggio group - the makers of Vespa) to launch their innovation arm where we built semi-autonomous robotic vehicles
Ran business development for a fintech company where I structured deals with the tax agency of Canada, Amex, numerous banks and loyalty programs
Investor in a lot of women-led companies and brands changing entire industries; low loss ratio of all the investments i’ve made (<10%)
Ex-Investment banker at Lehman and Goldman focused on consumer internet, semiconductors, and software. Did over 25 M&A and IPO transactions for the likes of Meta, Yelp, Sandisk, etc
Early in my life I launched a handbag company on The Apprentice and I helped lobby to get multiple bills passed to label boxes and remove carcinogenic chemicals from women’s skincare and cosmetics (they all passed; when you see no parabens and phthalates in skincare, that’s from some of my work!)
I’ve taken over 1,000 people on my trips who tell me they wouldn’t have seen as much of the world if not for me
Failures
Started a software travel business that I chose not take money for because I didn’t think it could be a billion dollar business (maybe less of a failure and just a lesson in realizing some businesses are better off without venture dollars)
Not leaving a few companies sooner when I knew their strategy wasn’t the right one; I like to start what I finish so sometimes stay longer even when I know I shouldn’t but better to get out when you know it’s not going to be the winner
Terrible at corporate politics and have limited bandwidth for incompetence
Self-promotion. I do a lot of things but rarely talk about them, I’m much better at talking up others
Recruiters hate my profile. Because i’ve spent time in strategy, product, marketing and finance, they can’t put me in a box and so all my roles have come through my network
Current Focus
Partner at an early-stage AI + Health tech fund. My next 6 months are all about fundraising, putting more procedures in place at the fund, and helping a lot of our companies with operational items (M&A, board seats, hiring, partnerships, and strategy pivots). After that, more investing
My side hustle is that I run a travel and events management company, The Sasha Edition, where we help plan curated offsites and retreats for companies and HNW individuals in exotic places. If dining with Michelin chefs in Mayan ruins or racing supercars around the Nordic countries sounds fun to you, join a future trip!
Hobbies
Sailing catamarans, hiking, Indian dance, throwing parties, luxury travel (I’ve been to 106 countries), scuba diving, setting my friends up (7 ppl got married bc of me), supercars, my dog Crouton
